For many, the first day of any week is unpleasant. That day is Monday.
What if you could find a way to deliberately introduce something pleasant into your Monday?
Preferably just as the day officially arrives for you.
I remember when I was growing up my beloved mother would introduce an orange just before she introduced the tablespoon of castor oil.
No, it still didn’t taste very good, but it did go down much better because of the orange.
There was another time in my life when I had completely lost my taste for bananas.
You couldn’t buy me one. Nope!
Then it occurred to me that I could retrain my brain to once again accept bananas if I introduced something I did like along with them.
So, I had one of my family members hold up a shiny red apple, and repeat the word apple several times while I took a bite of the banana.
It worked. I thought more about the apple then I did the banana, and was able to eat the whole thing. Now, I once again love bananas.
Neither my family member or I can fully understand how pairing the two at the same time made the difference, but it did.
So, I ask again. What could you deliberately introduce into your Monday that will make it more enjoyable?
What about a reward? You could actually reward yourself with something at day’s end or even in the middle of the day after you’ve successfully put a dent in those hours your are not nutsy whatsy about.
Have you ever tried this?
When I’m out and about, especially if it’s early on a Monday, I promise myself a treat.
It doesn’t have to be huge, just something that gets my senses [especially my visual sense] working on my behalf, something encouraging, something lyrical, something fun, something more doable.
I don’t care if it’s the beginning of the week. Besides Friday is just too far away to use that.
What would your spoonful of sugar be?
From this day forward…
How can you use your senses to help your Monday medicine go down, or for that matter, any other day’s medicine, in the most delightful way?
Something to think about…
and I wouldn’t wait until next Monday!
