Does Misery Really Need Us?
You’ve probably heard the saying, “Misery Needs Company.” But does it have to be our company?
Wouldn’t you rather keep company with something more pleasant? I know I certainly prefer to.
First, I find out what’s making me miserable. I simply can’t afford to be anymore wonky than I am already.
Then I surround this feeling with a song I love, or a movie I like, some uplifting quotes, or preferably, people I know that aren’t nutsy-whatsy about being miserable either.
When I need to shake it loose fast, I employ some visual expediency, in the form of a favorite beautiful image.
Isn’t it pretty?
It gives “ugly” a run for it’s money.
Sure, a lot of the miserable stuff going on in the world is rather hideous.
If we allow misery to invade our consciousness, it will slowly, but surely attempt to seep into our lives, relentlessly inviting us to keep it company.
The same for miserable people we run into, or rather run into us. Get the heck away from them as quickly as humanly possible.
Because when they’re suffering, they have it in their minds that the rest of the world must want [nay need] to be suffering too.
WRONG & BYEEE.
Do you mind if I ask what you do when feeling almost overcome by a miserable situation, miserable people, or just feel miserable because you got out of the wrong side of the bed?
IF what works for you even sounds remotely like it might work for me, I’m using it.
Thanks in advance for being one of those people who isn’t nutsy-whatsy about feeling miserable either!
